Daily Schedule (Sunday-Thursday)

Seder Yom (Order of the Day) for a Regular Day at Camp

Morning

  • 7:45am – Boker Tov!
    Unit Heads visit every cabin to wish campers a good morning.
  • 8:00am
    Rosh Toranut (counsellors on serving duty) go to Chadar Ochel.
  • 8:15am
    Cabin Toranim go to Chadar Ochel.
    Morning Mifkad (Flagpole): Campers gather in the Old Sports Field in the shape of a chet to make announcements, celebrate milestones, hear the latest Shmeryl, and learn the “Hebrew Word of the Day.” We sing O Canada, the Young Judaean Pledge, and raise the flags.
  • 8:30am – Breakfast
    All campers eat together in the Chadar Ochel. We sing Anachnu before meals and Birkat HaMazon after.
  • 9:00am – Daytime Prep
    Campers change clothes, brush teeth, apply sunscreen, put on a hat, and fill water bottles. No camper (or counsellor) leaves the cabin without completing this checklist.

Activity Periods

  • 9:30am-10:15am – Period 1
    Campers follow individualized schedules filled with chugim of their choice, plus swim and boating activities.
  • 10:15am-10:30am – Activity Rotation
  • 10:30am-11:15am – Period 2
  • 11:15am-11:20am – Activity Rotation
  • 11:20am-12:05pm – Period 3
  • 12:00pm
    Rosh Toranut to Chadar Ochel
  • 12:15pm
    Cabin Toranim to Chadar Ochel
  • 12:30pm – Lunch

Afternoon

  • 1:10pm-1:30pm – Nikayon (Cabin Clean-Up)
    Campers take turns tidying. Mail (weekdays) and Tuck/Shalom Swirl (Mon/Wed/Fri) are distributed after clean-up.
  • 1:30pm-2:45pm – Menucha (Rest Period) and SFL
    Campers relax, write letters, listen to music, eat tuck, or participate in SFL- Camp Shalom’s very own football league.
  • 2:45pm-3:30pm – Period 4
  • 3:30pm-3:45pm – Snack / Activity Rotation
  • 3:45pm-4:30pm – Period 5
  • 4:30pm-4:35pm – Activity Rotation
  • 4:35pm-5:20pm – Period 6
  • 5:20pm-6:00pm – Free Period
    Campers pursue interests like intramural sports, play rehearsal, or Free For Alls. Many campers shower during this time.

Evening

  • 5:45pm
    Rosh Toranut and Cabin Toranim to Chadar Ochel
  • 6:00pm – Dinner
  • 6:45pm – Evening Mifkad
    Campers gather in the Old Sports Field to hear announcements, celebrate milestones, hear the latest Shmeryl, and learn the “Hebrew Word of the Day.” Evening programs are promoted. We sing Hatikvah and lower the flags.
  • 7:00pm-7:45pm – Free Time
    Free time between dinner and evening program. Campers shower and staff set up evening activities.
  • 7:45pm-8:45pm – Evening Program
    Unit or camp-wide programs led by counsellors. Unit program start times vary by age group.
  • 8:45pm-9:15pm – Nighttime Prep
    Campers return to cabins for a snack, wash up, brush teeth, and get ready for bed.
